The Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica and the University of Ottawa have been collaborating on research projects since 2009, as we share a common interest in the field of systems biology, Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), and personalized pharmacology. In 2012, the University of Ottawa and the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica created the SIMM-uOttawa joint laboratory in translational “OMICS” (SIMMUOMICS joint laboratory). The SIMMUOMICS joint laboratory has led to joint publications, cross-training of students and professors, development of joint projects and symposia in Shanghai and Ottawa.
In 2017, both institutions decided to increase collaborations by creating a Joint Research Center on Systems and Personalized Pharmacology.
