The goal of research exchange is to improve collaboration between the University of Ottawa and the Shanghai Institute of Materia Medica. Through research exchange, the Center will sponsor a principle investigator, postdoctoral fellow or student’s visit with a Center member in partner institution for a short period to explore novel joint research projects, learn new techniques, engage in collaborative research and face-to-face interaction between scientists at the two institutions.

- Yichu Liang, graduate student in Dr. Jim Sun’s lab at the University of Ottawa, visited Dr. Weibo Yang’s lab at SIMM from Oct 17, 2019 to Oct 27, 2019.
- Yanting Zhou, visiting scientist, project “RapidAIM automated microbiome culture platform”.
- Jiaqin Wang, visiting PhD student, project “Toxic effects of triazine herbicides on mice gut microbiota”.
- Zikai Hao, visiting PhD student, project “The influence of bioregenerative life-support system (BLSS) dietary structure and lifestyle on the gut microbiota”.
- Ruitian Gao, visiting undergraduate student, worked on Bioinformatics analysis and joined the summer school in conjunction with NSERC CREATE TECHNOMISE training program.
- Chengfei Ruan, visiting PhD student, worked on “Post-translational modifications in bacteria” and joined the summer school in conjunction with NSERC CREATE TECHNOMISE training program.
- Jun Yang, Research Assistant in Shanghai Green Valley Pharmaceutical Incorporation, worked on compound screening and joined the summer school in conjunction with NSERC CREATE TECHNOMISE training program.
